Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, Cerba has been regularly involved in writing publications.

Prof. Belmin’s team at the Faculty of Medicine, Sorbonne University in Paris, in collaboration with Dr Emmanuel Lecorche, clinical pathologist at Cerba, highlighted the case of a cluster of SARS-CoV-2 in an EHPAD [residential home for the elderly] in Biscarosse. The 17 cases reported among residents occurred in a population the majority of whom were vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine (BNT162b2), with the exception of one case in an unvaccinated individual.
Two patients were hospitalised and one patient died (the unvaccinated person). This study conducted from January to February 2021 provided a better understanding of the prevention measures against COVID-19 in the geriatric environment and highlighted the importance of vaccination.

For this study, Laboratoire Cerba performed all sequencing within its technical platform.

The study was submitted, accepted and published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
